Japanese double sided vinyl is a great alternative to traditional lino. It is easy to carve and gives a clean cut, the smooth surface gives an even print and it takes fine detail very well. Both the green and the blue sides can be used making it very economical, and the fact that it has a black core means it is very easy to see where you have carved.

Review
This material is amazing! I am new to block-printing and I tested many surfaces to choose my favorite without bias. This one is the best for me. It takes the finest lines, you can do hatching and cross-hatching easily, washes beautifully after use, takes graphite transfer clear and very visible and it has this deep gray core that helps see the carved line well. I see incredible results and I am surprised myself how far this material propelled me in my creative journey.
