Princeton : Catalyst Polytip Bristle Brushes
Princeton : Catalyst Polytip Bristle Brushes
Catalyst Polytip Bristle brushes are another Princeton breakthrough that advances the science of synthetic hair. This new series is super stiff yet still extremely responsive. Unlike natural hog bristle, Catalyst has real integrity in water. Natural bristle can be rendered useless when it is water-soaked.
The true advance in Catalyst is the Polytip feature. For the first time, the tip of each individual hair has been split to replicate the natural flags on the finest natural bristle. By giving each individual hair 2 to 3 distinct tips, Catalyst is able to hold a higher volume of paint while providing a smoother application.
Designed for use with medium to heavy-bodied acrylics and oil paints, Catalyst pushes even heavy gel mediums with assurance. Catalyst Polytip Bristle brushes truly are tools that move paint.
Staff tip:
When cleaning synthetic brushes that have been used with oil paint it is advisable to not use turpentine as it will start to break down the synthetic filaments within the brush. Instead we recommend to use an odourless / low-odour brush cleaner.

best brushes ever, ever, ever (Posted on 6/28/2018)Rating - Review by Feefo
Now a favourite brush. Good control of the paint (Posted on 2/7/2018)Rating - Review by Feefo
Excellent brushes - I bought one lot and tried them and was so pleased with them I bought some more. They keep their shape and move the paint about beautifully. (Posted on 11/14/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
My favourite shape brush, really good for blending and drawing (Posted on 6/8/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
Great brushes retain their shape (Posted on 6/8/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
Great brushes, retain their shape and very nice feel when painting (Posted on 6/8/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
Ok (Posted on 3/16/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
Tried one of these before and it has lasted fine, holds plenty of paint and kept its shape very well compared to a conventional hogs hair brush. Less of an issue with larger brushes but worth buying for the smaller sizes. (Posted on 3/16/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
I had one of these in size 2, keeps its shape better than hogs hair. (Posted on 3/16/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
Very pleased with this brush. First time I tried the catalyst brand and the bristles have a firmness that make for a confident stroke. They do seem rather highly priced for a synthetic brush. (Posted on 3/16/2017)Rating - Review by Graham
I been using a range of these princeton ploytip brushes for about 3 months now. I'm really impressed with them all as they seem to handle thick and thin oil and acrylic with ease. A bonus is that they clean easily and retain their shape despite my brutal treatment of them. If you buy the full range it will set you back a few bob but having used countless brushes for over 30 years I think it's money well spent. (Posted on 8/11/2016)Rating - Review by Graham

Easy to work with. (Posted on 11/13/2015)Rating - Review by Emanuele Rebuttini
Not the first catalyst polytip bristle I bought. So far they're the best brushes I have. This flat is really sharp at the lateral view, so I can make very thin lines. They can move thick paint without being too stiff or lose flexibility. They're not cheap, but for now they never disappointed me and they're the ones I use most. ordered 19/07, arrived 29/07 (Modena, Italy)items adeguately packaged (7 cryla artists and 4 brushed)very pleased with the brushed, especially this Princeton filbert and and Isacryl round one (Posted on 8/20/2015)Rating - Review by Feefo
these new brushes are superb, they can change your painting techniques .As far as i am concerned they have made my other brushes redundant. I recommend them with out reserve (Posted on 5/16/2015)Rating - Review by Feefo
smooth like a man made brush but VERY stiff & springy like bristle, even more springy than bristle I reckon, I found it took a lot of muscle effort in my hand to use it to do firm gestural strokes so it didn't suit me (I have illness induced muscle weakness) but if I were fit n well I think it'd be brilliant.
