Royal & Langnickel : 4Pc White Taklon Shader Brush Set

I bought the 4 piece white Taklon shader brush set, and the 3 piece white Taklon wash brush set, for use with gouache. I didn't have high expectations as they're super cheap, but honestly they've been total winners. Are they the same quality as brushes 10X the price? No. But they are easily as good as brushes 5X the price, which is pretty bonkers. They're fully plastic, which I guess could be seen as bad - but means that if you accidentally leave them in water overnight (whoops) then no harm will come to them. I had one handle come loose from the ferrule (easily fixed with some glue) but otherwise they have performed brilliantly. I like them for gouache as they hold enough water to keep the paint moving, but not so much as to wash out all the pigment. I'm normally a bit precious about 'quality' art material, but these brushes are undeniably banging. You literally cannot go wrong at this price, with this performance. If you can afford really expensive flat brushes for gouache - go ahead and get the fancy ones. Treat yourself. But if you're skint and need something decent that isn't going to hold you back, or if you just want some cheaper brushes for travelling in case you lose one, these are an absolutely excellent choice. I sometimes reach for them over more expensive brushes.
