Info
Sennelier Watercolor Binding Medium contains gum arabic, honey, water, and a preservative.
When mixed with dry pigments, it provides a smooth, watersoluble paste with a honey-like consistency.
If paints are too thick, this ready-to-use medium can be used as a thinner. It will also maintain the watercolor's transparency and brilliance.
Thin with water (to increase the binder's fluidity, add 5 to 10% water maximum).

This is a high quality medium for producing your own watercolour paints. I have used this with various earth and synthetic pigments from the Jacksons rage, and foraged natural earths, to produce both pans and tubes. It is possibly more suited to tubes, as the honey base means it remains quite fluid, and pans can take some time to dry, forming a bit of a skin with fluid paint beneath. They dry eventually (and store fine wrapped in greaseproof paper) but are best straight in a palette. A good starting point seems to be about 5ml of binder to 5g (or a small palette knife full) of pigment, but this will vary. This makes a small tube or 3-4 half pans. It is very sticky, so be prepared to clean up well!
