A set of two, fine, 4,000 grit waterstones. Firstly, a 108 x 63.5 x 16mm block with 5 shallow rounded grooves on one side for sharpening the outside bevels of a wide range of U gouges. The reverse side and edges can be used for flat tools and for sharpening the outside bevel of V gouges. Secondly, a small slip stone 63.5 x 38mm tapered with two round edges of 3mm radius and 6mm radius, for removing the burr from the inside small tools etc. Full instructions in Japanese (with pictures) on the reverse of the pack.

Japanese synthetic waterstones and slipstones for sharpening lino and woodcut tools of all types. The 1000 grit can be described as a medium stone and is used to sharpen to an almost perfect cutting edge. The 4000 grit or fine stone is used for the final hone and polish and will leave the tool ready for use. Before use the stones will need to be soaked in water for 10 to 15 minutes. After use the stones are best air dried and wrapped in a soft loth for storage.
