Moulin du Roy is a 100% cotton French watercolour paper. Produced on a traditional cylinder mould machine, this paper has the look and feel of a handmade paper. Both absorbent and strong, Moulin du Roy has internal and surface sizing that permits the lifting of dried colour and the reworking of watercolour. Canson Moulin du Roy watercolour paper is naturally white, acid-free, and made entirely without bleaching agents for optimal conservation over time.
The hot pressed surface has a smooth texture that is particularly suited for portraits and other intricate techniques. The cold pressed surface is neither too smooth nor too grainy making it easy to handle and a popular choice.
Please note: Moulin Du Roy is now produced at St Cuthberts' Mill - the paper is the same as the old formulation, just without a deckle edge or watermark.

Fantastic vegan paper
Having worked with a variety of quality watercolour cotton papers over the past few years, this has come to be my favourite. The fact that it is vegan is a huge plus for me. It is responsive to my need for lots of subtle textures and mark makings, retaining the fresh impact of these very well, and it also allows me to lift colours and rub out fairly vigorously without the surface getting destroyed. It is lovely quality and holds the paint’s colour and intensity over time as you would expect.
