Established in 2011, the Edinburgh Atelier of Fine Art is the longest-serving atelier in the UK and a leader in traditional art training. It offers a supportive and results-driven community, with 80% of its alumni now working as professional artists.

Its teaching is grounded in the proven methods of the nineteenth-century academies. Students first master the language of drawing and painting, building a strong technical foundation. Through commitment and structured study, students gain the tools for true artistic independence.

No previous experience is required, and no portfolio is needed to apply. The atelier welcomes complete beginners, intermediate artists, and professionals alike. Instructors work one-to-one with each student, tailoring guidance to individual goals and supporting progress with clarity and confidence.

The atelier believes exceptional art education should be accessible. For this reason, tuition fees are kept intentionally affordable, giving students from all backgrounds the opportunity to train at a high level. Its flexible study hours allow students to learn at a pace that fits around their lifestyle, whether full-time, part-time, or in the evenings.
