Japanese Washi papers are strong and very thin. They are well suited to hand burnishing techniques because they are easy to manipulate in the hand for positioning, and don’t require much pressure when taking a print. Western printing papers such as Stonehenge and Fabriano Rosaspina are thicker and well-suited to printing with a press.

More on Printmaking Paper
Printmaking papers come in many guises and there a no hard and fast rules as to what you should be using. The paper that you choose will be integral to your work and affect the finished print, so even proofing should be done on the final printing paper, as opposed to a budget alternative.
As a guideline, though you might want to consider how you are printing, choose lighter-weight papers for hand burnishing and heavy-weight papers for printing on a large press. The individual product descriptions will help to guide your choice.
