Info
Art Spectrum Soft Pastels provide the artist with colors that are pure, brilliant and intense, and remain that way. The very best pigments are selected and triple milled at maximum concentration to bring out the finest color and provide the rich, velvety bloom valued by pastellists. This method of production produces smouldering darks, brilliant and intense pure colors and a range of subtle and delicate tints. All Art Spectrum pure pigment pastels are free from heavy metals, asbestos or other toxic substances. Each pastel measures 70x12mm.
Art Spectrum extra soft, vibrant colors are great for finishing touches and highlights as this often requires a very soft pastel that can apply color over the top of many layers of previously applied pastel. Use these reds to drop in bright highlights on still life works, emphasise the vividness of flowers or countryside scenes or as a gorgeous statement color or background tone.

These reds pack a punch!
I am a fan of the versatility of these rectangular shaped soft pastels. As another artist reviewed, these reds are warm reds, With that understanding, I have found them to be beautiful and creamy and very generously sized.
colors not anything like pictured
The quality of these pastels is great, but for the reds, beware, these are mostly salmons and orange reds -- the picture is quite deceiving. This is Art Spectrum's fault, not Jacksons, but it's like whoever color corrected this photo wasn't trying to make it look accurate, just exciting. My set did also vary -- I didn't get the Red E, the deepest was Red C. So I was quite disappointed in the colors I actually received. I'm also very surprised the price of these sets has gone up so much in the last 2 months.
