This Stylus Charcoal Holder from Nitram is the perfect tool for artists who love to draw with charcoal. It is especially useful for artists who prefer a cleaner way of working, as the advantage of Nitram is its ability to not crumble or skip when used expressively.
This set features a Nitram Stylus charcoal holder made from medical grade stainless steel and high-grade polycarbonate, along with five charcoal sticks and four color coded caps. These caps are secured onto the end of the holder, helping you to identify which charcoal is in the holder. This set also includes an assortment of four charcoal leads which are perfect for all types of sketching, from life drawing to nature studies. These are: H, HB, B & 6mm. Changing between the different grades of charcoal is easily done by loosening the collar and removing the charcoal from the clamp. There is very little chance of breaking the charcoal stick when you remove it. Also included is a free gift with every stylus.
The stylus holds your charcoal sticks firmly and fits comfortably in the palm of your hand, or between your fingers. The stylus has a good, comfortable weight which allows for a great deal of dexterity when drawing. This Stylus allows for big, gestural drawing strokes for large-scale work, as well as precision marks for finer detail.
Because of its solid strength, the charcoal can be sharpened to a fine point with the Nitram Sharpening Bloc.

Square sticks broke when inserting into holder
Bought because I liked the idea of less dust in my studio and because, though expensive, the stylus seemed a good idea. Received today - the first square stick broke when trying to insert it and without shaving the rest down would not have been possible to use in the stylus. Plus, because of that, the paper coloured way of distinguishing between different hardnesses was impossible. Only the circular stick worked. Also a pencil is needed to move the stick down the barrel once in place - not too hard that -I love Jacksons, who have always served me well over many years, but maybe this is one product they have not tested. A very expensive mistake. I'll phone tomorrow and hope we can sort something out,

I am very impressed with the charcoal it is a pleasure to use. Anything from light sketching to deep rich velvety darks are achieved with ease using the different grades included in the box. The stylus is well made and a pleasure to use and keeps your hands clean. However it was difficult to get some of the charcoal sticks into the stylus because there is some variation in the thickness of the sticks. In an ideal world it might be nice to have a stylus for each of the grades of charcoal that you use, but at this price it is just too expensive for me! Nice product but very expensive.
