Info
Hawthorn Carborundum Grit is a versatile abrasive with a wide range of applications. It can be mixed with water or oil to create graining or polishing pastes for metal plates, or used directly for carborundum printing.
When adhered to a printing plate, carborundum grit produces rich, intense colour and tonal depth when inked and printed as an intaglio. The powder can be applied by sprinkling it onto PVA adhesive and tapping off the excess, or mixed with acrylic mediums and painted onto the plate for more controlled effects.
