Holbein DUO Aqua Oil is an artist quality pigment in water-soluble linseed oil. It has all the characteristics and handling of a buttery soft traditional oil colour and finishes with the same texture and brush strokes. DUO eliminates the odour of solvent from the studio and brushes as stainless knives and palettes will clean up with water. To make Duo identical in every respect to its traditional professional grade, Holbein developed a unique additive which works as a surface active agent. Any residue of this additive loses its effectiveness once the oil colour is dry. Because of its water-solubility, Holbein DUO Aqua Oil offers the opportunity for mixed media results which would be unavailable in a traditional oil palette. For example, DUO can be mixed with waterbased metallic, pearl and interference colours as well as watercolour, gouache or acrylic paints.
