Jackson's : Cold Wax Medium

Jackson’s Cold Wax Medium is a versatile non-yellowing medium for oil colours that imparts a translucent matt lustre. It can also be mixed with a wide range of mediums such as powdered pigments, powdered metals, coloured sands, dyes and other compatible fine art materials.

Made from a mixture of beeswax, paraffin wax, microcrystalline wax, dammar resin, and mineral spirits this medium will strengthen the paint film against shrinkage and cracking and protect it from impurities such as dirt and moisture. Highly versatile, it can be used as a medium, a pigment binder, a glaze, and a protecting varnish.

Jackson’s Cold Wax Medium improves the luminosity and clarity of colours and should be mixed directly with colour before applying it to the painting. It adds translucency to oil paints, making them more vibrant. It can also used as a final coat on dry paintings and buffed to a gloss finish. Thins with turpentine or mineral spirits.
