Clairefontaine : Pastelmat : Pastel Board : 1.8mm

Clairefontaine Pastelmat Boards consist of 360gsm Pastelmat Paper attached to a 1.8mm board. This facilitates working at an easel and will make your pastel drawings more robust and easily transportable. The board surface works well for techniques that require a rigid surface such as when using texture fixatives.

These boards have all of the properties of Pastelmat papers. In particular, the toothy, velvety surface, made from a fine coating of cellulose fibres significantly reduces the need for fixative, which means that colours remain vibrant and fresh once applied. This makes Pastelmat Boards ideal for use with all dry media - pastel sticks, PanPastel, pencils, and charcoal. They are also water resistant which means that they can be used with wet media such as acrylics and watercolour for washes and mixed media techniques.

Please note: PastelMat are sometimes subject to some small spotting and discolouration. This is to be expected due to the manufacturing process. The small talc spots can simply be removed with a stiff brush or a craft knife.
