Info

It used to be that watercolour painters had few options beyond white paper or a few coloured boards. This Pearlescent White ground allows you to turn almost any surface into a luminous white surface suitable for watercolour painting, as well as collage, pastels, pencils and mixed media work.

This plastic tub contains 118ml (4 fl. oz.) of Daniel Smith Pearlescent White Watercolour Ground. The ground makes a white pearlescent paintable area when applied to a white surface, and because it is semi-transparent, it allows the colour and/or pattern of the surface it is applied onto to show slightly through the pearlescent sheen. Your transparent and semi-transparent watercolours will have a slight pearlescence effect when painted over the Pearlescent White Ground.

You can paint over an entire surface with the ground or only in areas that you wish to add pearlescent effects, perhaps using the other Daniel Smith Watercolour Grounds in the other areas if you are not applying it onto watercolour paper.

This is an excellent product, and arrived very quickly from Jacksons.

Good consistency, the watercolour ground covers the surface well, also like the colour of this ground.

Only tested this so far but it seems good.

Not a good product, doesn't apply evenly and behaves like unsized paper, not watercolour paper. On porous base the ground and the base buckle terribly. Watercolour pencils do not work at all on it. Impossible to achieve a flat wash on.

Daniel Smith paints are leagues ahead of the competition. This product is truly revolutionary. No longer can watercolour artists be disadvantaged by errors.
