Diane Townsend Soft Form Artists’ Pastel Sets feature handmade soft pastels created using a historic Italian formula dating back to the 15th century. First developed in 1971 and refined over more than four decades, the formulation produces a smooth, flowing pastel with a very high pigment content, allowing for rich colour, strong coverage, and expressive mark-making.
The Soft Form pastels are shaped to sit comfortably in the hand and are particularly well suited to easel work. The range includes both traditional artists’ colours and a bold selection of modern pigments, alongside a distinctive choice of special colours including metallic, pearlescent, iridescent and fluorescent tones. Easy to apply and responsive in use, these pastels support both controlled work and energetic expression.
