Faber-Castell's PITT pencils were designed for sketching as they harder than conventional pastel pencils. This means the lines you create do not disappear completely when smudged, they are also water and fade resistant. The pencils are ideal for contours, outlines and fine details and are rich in pigment. The harder core also means that they may be a bit more durable when sharpening them to a fine point. They are available in 5 degrees of hardness ranging from extra soft to extra hard.
