Like all the brushes in this range, it has a nice feel to it in the hand, and holds a lot of paint. It's excellent for the woodgrain effects I was looking for. I will also use it for grass effects. I don't do portraiture, but I imagine it would be very effective for hair effects.Rating

Wow!! What a brush!! I've got flat dagger/sword brushes but this is a million times better! The point is needle fine and produces a line far thinner than any liner brush. I've been wanting to get a brush to make it easier to paint hair. The comb effect creates subtle brushstrokes that is good for hair detail in portraiture, and applying it in different angles creates a less uniform and more realistic effect. I have just bought this brush and am very pleased with it. I am delighted at the enormous variety of marks I can make with this brush, plus I can paint very long fine lines of varying thickness before the brush needs replenishing. I have used it in an almost calligraphic manner and I can see it lending itself to a Chinese style of painting. Needle-fine marks to broad strokes in one flowing movement. This brush has too hard hair and absorbs too little water. I use it for dry technics or for cleaning paper from extra paints. Also the hair shape is very specific, but it will be very usefull for painting plants, leaves and so on. I can recommend the brush more for gouache or acrylic paints than for watercolour. A smaller brush than I expected, but am not disappointed at all, it gives such precise results. I used the special offer on brushes, thought I would get only a couple, but wound up with some excellent mop brushes, and a unique cats tongue brush, a hake, silk brush etc. for the same cost as more expensive named brand brushes.
