Very impressed with these brushes for watercolour! I'm usually a sable snob, but about a year ago I bought some of Jackson's studio synthetics to use for mixing and quick studies, yet they perform so well that I keep reaching for them. They have held up very well, point and belly is still going strong, and the price is amazing also! Jackson's, would love it if you'd come out with a travel brush series in these. I paint almost solely with pure sable, but I purchased Jackson's studio synthetic in sizes 8 and 10 to use for mixing and quick studies in watercolour. However, I find myself reaching for these brushes for general painting also. They have a very nice hold and release for synthetics, and I love that they are affordable enough that I don't have to worry about them, especially when plein air painting or traveling. I baby my expensive sables, but I'm pretty rough on my synthetics and these have also held up remarkably well! More than a year later, the brushes still have sharp points and perform well. I also bought a liner/rigger in this line, and it doesn't hold enough pigment to perform adequately, but that didn't surprise me with synthetic so I knew I was taking a chance with that one. I've been using a set of Kolinsky Sable brushes from the mid eighties but simply cant afford to replace them today with Kolinsky (due to price and much lesser quality Kolinsky hair) so I had to look around for brushes that I can afford that would be acceptable to me. This brush has been a real surprise to me. The quality is excellent and far exceeded my expectations. And it hold a puddle of water and paint. This must be the best synthetic brush I have tried and would definitely buy more of them. Best kept secret in the brush world. Really impressed with Jackson's quality of paint brushes, I do a lot of work that requires fine detail and rinse through brushes usually. This one in particular is daily usage for me, never had any stray hairs come off it, glides perfectly. I have to admit, quality of this brush was a surprise for me. One word to describe this brush is: "Sturdy". It has a good heavy handle that I like. Feels very durable and balanced when held. I bought a selection of these brushes out of curiosity, having always bought Winsor and Newton Cotman brushes before. What a pleasant surprise! Not only do these brushes more than match the Cotman's, but I would go so far as to say they are better! I work as an heraldic artist, so I have to do some extremely fine work at times and their 2/0, 3/0 and 4/0 are superb for my needs! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend these. Really impressed with Jackson's quality of paint brushes, I do a lot of work that requires fine detail and rinse through brushes usually. This one in particular is daily usage for me, never had any stray hairs come off it, glides perfectly. I have to admit, quality of this brush was a surprise for me. One word to describe this brush is: "Sturdy". It has a good heavy handle that I like. Feels very durable and balanced when held. I bought a selection of these brushes out of curiosity, having always bought Winsor and Newton Cotman brushes before. What a pleasant surprise! Not only do these brushes more than match the Cotman's, but I would go so far as to say they are better! I work as an heraldic artist, so I have to do some extremely fine work at times and their 2/0, 3/0 and 4/0 are superb for my needs! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend these. This is a stunning brush for the price. Holds lots of water for loose and fast painting, yet keeps a very fine point for detail. I needn't have worried, they're good.Synthetic brushes often feel hard and unresponsive, These brushes have a wonderfully soft feel, but they have good spring and pointing as well.I have used most of the well-known synthetic brushes and these are as good as any of them.
