The lid of the Ultimate Steel Brush Washer prevents fumes from escaping into your working environment when the washer is not being used, and is secured in place with 3 spring clips. The sediment accumulated from washing brushes sinks through the holes to the bottom of the washer pot, and helps keep your solvent cleaner for longer.When you need to clean or replace your solvent, decant what is in the washer into another vessel carefully, stopping just before the sediment starts to flow into the vessel, and then dispose of the sediment beneath the removable insert and clean/wipe the insert and bottom of the pot before pouring the solvent back in and topping up with a little fresh solvent.

This is an excellent product and I was very happy with it until the seal washer ring swelled in the solvent environment and no longer made the pot air or liquid tight. Clearly there is a design fault with this simple item and the manufacturers should equip the pot with a seal that is chemically able to work in a solvent atmosphere. Not rocket science as all solvents etc. come in cans and bottles sealed with washers that work and do not swell and distort. Jacksons should offer replacement washer rings in their catalogue for this otherwise good product. (Posted on 29/05/2021)

Great purchase. I use it with zest it solvent and have never had any problems with the rubber seal. Having said that I always make sure it remains upright in my bag when travelling with it. The spring clips are robust and work well. My only criticism is, as others have pointed out, the filter / insert that has holes in is not deep enough in the pot. You have to put in a lot of solvent so that the insert is immersed in the liquid. When I'm travelling I don't like to take too much solvent with me to keep the weight down so I tend to use this without the insert, which is a shame. (Posted on 28/06/2020)

Bought a year or more ago but have had same experience as others with rubber washer becoming detached and jar no longer air or liquid tight. Now used in studio but if taken outdoors has to be transported empty or turps everywhere. Reluctant to replace with new as this seems top be as common fault. (Posted on 08/06/2018)

Had the same problem as Heather - on two washers as well. Both washers stretched and distorted on each occasion. On the second one we managed to cut it and stick it in with glue. Big shame as to start with they worked well. How about supplying spare washers? (Posted on 14/10/2017)

I have had 2 of these now and on both occasions the seal inside the lid stretches and falls out and you can no longer seal the washer. Only works for a short period of time. Has anyone else had this problem - I cant be the only one? (Posted on 23/08/2017)
