Woodzilla Press: Artist-Led Innovation in Relief Printmaking
Woodzilla Press are Netherlands-based makers of robust, ready-to-use presses for relief printmaking.
Founded by printmaker and illustrator Esther Elzinga and her husband Jan, Woodzilla grew from a frustration with the lack of a high quality hand lino press that delivered consistent pressure at an affordable price. Esther knew what artists needed from a press, and Jan had the skills to build it.
Development began after a period of living in Singapore, where Esther developed a passion for printmaking. On returning to the Netherlands, making a press together became both a creative and practical solution to her printmaking needs. Jan engineered a design that was space-saving, well-constructed, and precise enough to handle Esther's most detailed relief work. When Esther shared the results, demand grew quickly, and Woodzilla Press was born.
The Woodzilla printing press continues to gain popularity among the most popular lino presses. Each Woodzilla hand lino press is precision-manufactured from heavy-duty steel and designed to apply uniform pressure with minimal effort, delivering a clean, consistent result with every print.
Woodzilla’s growing reputation has helped their presses reach an international audience.
