Consider preparing paper, board or canvas with tinted watercolor ground. A neutral or tinted-base color is a terrific way to set the mood and atmosphere of your artwork!

Tinting also allows you the option of matching your painting foundation to any object you wish to paint, creating an invisible surface! Try tinting your watercolor ground with Aureolin and give a golden glow to your watercolor paper when painting sunny landscapes.

It used to be that watercolor painters had few options beyond white paper or a few colored boards. Now you can turn almost any surface into a toned or black ground for watercolor painting, as well as collage, pastels, pencils and mixed media work.

Titanium White, as well as turning any surface into Watercolor Paper, allows you to rescue areas within a painting done on Watercolro paper! How many times do you get a “Do Over”?

It’s so easy to apply Ground over an area within a painting that needs rescuing—or for working on different compositional areas. You can also lift and scrub without damaging the painting surface.

I really like this paint. I spread it as smooth and even as I can with an inch broad flat synthetic brush, and when dried it becomes perfectly smooth with a nice shine to it. I usually apply two strokes, but one stroke might be enough if one apply a reasonably thick layer of paint. It dries within an hour or two. Some watercolors looks great upon it. Good product.

Really nice ground, can achieve relative smooth to slightly rough textures. can get really opaque. Not like watercolour paper at all, cause it doesnt soak up with water. but if you get used to it you'll see its pro's

It just about does the job but it's not the same as painting on proper watercolor paper. Light washes seen to fade into it and some colours bled.

Wanted to try this having read about Watercolour Grounds. I have yet to evaluate it's use for my painting

Fabulous for sealing layers on paintings, I’m currently using it to experiment with layered ink paintings.

Does exactly what I wanted, I can now use watercolour on anything and know it will still move and flow as if it were on watercolour paper.

Good consistency, the watercolour ground covers the surface well, also like the colour of this ground.

Only tested this so far but it seems good.

Not a good product, doesn't apply evenly and behaves like unsized paper, not watercolour paper. On porous base the ground and the base buckle terribly. Watercolour pencils do not work at all on it. Impossible to achieve a flat wash on.

Daniel Smith paints are leagues ahead of the competition. This product is truly revolutionary. No longer can watercolour artists be disadvantaged by errors.
