Das Air Dry Modelling Clay is a soft, pliable clay available in White and Terracotta, in 500g or 1kg bags. It is popular in schools and easy to use for adults as well. The clay can be moulded by hand or with tools such as colour shapers or palette knives, and can also be used to make imprints from objects.
As it air dries, there is no need for a kiln or any heat-setting process. Once dry, the clay has a matt, chalky finish and provides an easy surface for painting. It is also sandable. Drying times vary depending on environmental conditions, but generally take a few days. If you need to pause a sculpting session before your work is finished, it is best to isolate the piece from the air by wrapping it in a carrier bag or several layers of cling film.
