DAS : Air Drying Clay
Das Air Dry Modelling Clay is soft, pliable clay available in White and Terracotta and in bags of 500g or 1kg. It is very popular in schools and is a very easy to use materials for adults too. Clay can be moulded by hand or with tools such as colour shapers or palette knives – you can use it to make imprints of objects with. Because it air dries there is no need for a kiln or any heat setting process. The clay dries matt and chalky and is an easy surface on which to paint once dry. It is also sandable. Clay drying times will vary in accordance with environmental conditions but generally will take a few days – if you need to stop a sculpting session before your work is finished we recommend isolating the work from air as much as possible by wrapping in a carrier bag or in a few layers of cling film.
