The Derwent Drawing Pencil has an extra-wide, creamy textured core which produces a beautifully soft, velvety finish. The colour palette of the Derwent Drawing range is inspired by nature. The rich and earthy colours are perfect for wildlife and nature studies, and are seen by many artists as the ideal pencil to draw ‘fur and feather'. They are also ideal for rich, subtle landscapes and deep, thoughtful portraits.

The Derwent Drawing Pencil has a texture similar to Derwent Lightfast Pencils and, like the Lightfast range, is rated 100% resistant to colour change for up to 100 years. The key difference is the core: Derwent Drawing uses a wax-based formulation rather than oil. Colours blend cleanly and mix with ease on the page, and the rich, opaque laydown shows up beautifully on mid-tone and dark papers.

Each pencil features a 5mm core, the widest in the Derwent range and among the thickest artists’ quality pencils available. This extra-wide colour strip supports stronger mark-making, rapid coverage, and confident layering when building dense fur or feathers.
