a very good synthetic brush, feels so nice to hold. it arrived slightly bent, but all solved as just placed in hot water ( jacksons advice) and it was perfect again. (Posted on 28/07/2022)Rating - Review by V
I have a large collection of Escoda Versatil, various sizes, as well as various other makes of brushes. I use Versatil the most. I love that they are not too soft, have a bit of 'snap' (I suppose it depends upon what you are painting whether you want that quality in a brush). It's a shame that the brushes have received a couple of poor reviews because I found the quality of the brushes, each and every one of them, in excellent condition and not poorly made at all. All the brushes, Escoda Versatil and various others bought from Jacksons, arrived in excellent condition and they seem very fine quality to me. (Posted on 22/05/2021)Rating - Review by AB

I ordered 4 of these for inking and they are all very poor brushes.Rating
The brushes all came with a bent ferrule in the order. They were well packaged for shipping so I assume Escoda's manufacturing is to blame for this defect. I was quickly refunded.
I tested these brushes and, bent ferrule aside, I found them unusable. These fibers are harder, and more springy than Kolinsky, so they don't really have the same control when drawing tight curves. The craftsmanship is very poor. The fibers are misaligned, of inconsistent length, the brush doesn't have a shape when wet. The point is split or blunt.
Along with another terrible experience with two travel brushes that are almost unusable even for sketching due to the same extremely blunt point and poor craftsmanship, I will definitely never buy Escoda again. (Posted on 23/04/2019)- Review by Alexandra
I love Escoda brushes in general and I own a bunch of them - both natural and synthetic. Versatil was my first purchase, I have used it for 3 years now and I have to say that it doesn't feel like sable at all. The filaments became quite stiff after a while. The sharp point is also lost. But I still use it often, it comes handy for details and dry brush technique because it's very resilient and doesn't hold a lot of water. (Posted on 14/10/2018)Rating - Review by Feefo

Very impressed, wish I had purchased these Versatil brushes sooner. No, it's not like sable but a sable in a size 14 round will cost more than 10x this brush. This is much softer and has better capacity than the white toray I tried (and hated). Pigment will not release as well as sable but it's much better than the white toray. (Posted on 02/03/2018)Rating - Review by Feefo
Excellent synthetic brush for tiny detail work, I'd definitely recommend these. My old Escoda synthetic #0 brush is taking a long time to wear out, proving that synthetic is just as good and long lasting as real hair brushes. Don't waste your money on unethical and overpriced real hair brushes. (Posted on 10/12/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
I've already got this size brush and it's brilliant. I was buying the 3/0 and thought the prices are so good I'll buy another 0 for when my old one wears out. I've had my old one for more than a year, use it regularly for watercolour painting and it's still in good condition and I can get really good detail from using it. I won't buy real hair brushes for ethical and animal cruelty reasons and don't see why I would want to as the quality of synthetic brushes are excellent nowadays along with their affordable prices. (Posted on 10/12/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
Great brushes for oil paint. The application on canvas/panels when using these brushes is incredible and as close as you can get to real kolinsky brushes but with the added bonus that they last longer. (Posted on 22/10/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
Brush feels good, nice fine point. (Posted on 25/07/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
Brush feels okay, tip could hold it's shape a little better. (Posted on 25/07/2017)Rating - Review by Feefo
Lovely brush. I bought this unsure how to use a cat's tongue brush so I'm still getting used to the shape, but the quality is lovely. The handle is quite chunky and heavy, maybe suited more to a larger size? Doesn't negatively affect the quality, just something I have to get used to! (Posted on 26/05/2017)Rating - Review by Meryl Mae
I have a versatil #10 travel brush and I absolutely loved it so I had no second thoughts deciding to buy the smaller size. The #2 is fantastic, keeps it's point well. I would give it a 5 by itself, but the brush arrived with it's tip bent, again, since the plastic guard was missing. I assume the brush got banged about a lot hence the bent tip, which is really a shame since this brush is very well made. (Posted on 02/02/2017)Rating - Review by Serhat

Super absorbant imitation sable brush, nearly as soft as my squirrel brush. On special offer, I was delighted. Doesn't front load, and has a good spring. Love it for WC, not sure about acrylic painting though. Will be back for more. (Posted on 29/08/2015)Rating - Review by Wan Borhanuddin Md Noor
Very good brush. Like the real thing and superbly constructed. The paint flow is smooth and consistent and it does hold alot of water. (Posted on 20/08/2015)Rating - Review by Wan Borhanuddin Md Noor

Great brushes and so economical. I re ordered another but I wish that Jackson's would add what kind of brush this is in their description. I mistakenly ordered riggers instead of rounds. It's not always easy to see clearly when navigating on a device. (Posted on 08/07/2015)Rating - Review by Feefo
Excellent Brush, holds bags of paint and has a controlled release, capable of washes and fine lines easily as good as a sable and so much more economical to buy!
