Jackson's : Wentworth Box Easel
The Wentworth Table Box Easel is great for artists who have limited space or who work on a medium-scale. The easel folds away flat on the surface of the box to take up little space.
The easel tilts to a variety of working angles and can be tilted up to 30 degrees. The side-opening drawer is useful for storing brushes and paints and because it opens to the side it does not interfere with the work on the easel. The whole box takes up a minimal amount of space and has a carry handle for portability.

- Maximum interior size of the drawer, without dividers, is 31cm wide and 36cm long. With dividers 2 x 36 x 10cm and 1 split into 2 10 x 17.6cm

- Wood may be beech or elm

I have had a couple of table easels but always find that I would like my support board to be able to be lowered below the height that my previous easels allow. I saw this style of easel at an art demo and then found that Jacksons stocked them, the easel is well made and appears to be quite robust. Both the easel and the drawer have good clips to lock them in place when closed up, when in use the support lowers down well below table height, but you do need to retain a slight angle to the board to allow the bottom support to miss the box part.Rating
Easel angles are easily adjusted with two large brass locking nuts eather side , the drawer has several sectioned areas that hold a large amount of arty stuff although when the drawer is full the easel is quite heavy to be carrying around but this also adds to the sturdiness of the easel when in use. A great easel to use and to store. I was looking at something more than twice the price, which had a few nice finishing details, so I was concerned this may have some niggles for the price, but I am delighted to say it has not. Highly recommended.Rating

I wanted the Mabef Sicilian, but it was out of stock. At the price, I thought this couldn't be too bad a substitute. I was wrong - it is great. The box is quite shallow at 37mm and the minimum canvas height is 326mm. It may be helpful to provide this info on the website. I have no problem with locking the easel in position and, although the box base allows it to slide on a smooth table surface, that is easily cured by applying a few self adhesive non slip pads which are readily available from DIY stores. Love this product. It's very substantial (heavy) but of good quality. I love the side drawer which means that once you've got the easel in position, you can just pull the drawer out to get at your paints, as opposed to having to get up and walk round the back of most box easels to find your paints. I was looking for a table top easel where the central support rod could be lowered in order to work comfortably on larger works while sitting down. Given my lack of space, I also required the drawer to pull out sideways as opposed to forwards. The Wentworth ticks all these boxes and it's hard to believe that anyone can make a profit particularly when it's on sale. Given this there are on two things that I would make anyone aware of before purchasing. 1. If you're working and exert too much of your weight against the frame it will move backwards regardless of how tightly you set the adjustment screw. Maybe putting a washer on the outer side of the screw will get it to grip more tightly. 2. Given the surface of the box it will slide a little on a desk when you're working so it might be worth laying it on a rubberised surface for extra stability.
