Jo Sonja : Artists' Mediums : Crackle Medium

Jo Sonja Crackle Medium is a transparent acrylic medium used to create fine, medium, or large crackled patterns for an aged effect. It is designed for use with Jo Sonja Artists’ Colours and Background Colours and can be applied to prepared surfaces, painted designs, photocopies, or prints to produce decorative crackle and crazing effects.

The size and character of the crackle pattern depend on the thickness of application and the condition of the paint layers beneath it. It is applied over a dry basecoat and left to air dry undisturbed, with the resulting surface suitable for sanding, antiquing, glazing, and further decorative work once dry; a coat of Jo Sonja Clear Glaze Medium is recommended before varnishing.
