We offer a specialist metal leaf pressing service online and at our Dalston shop. Our press lets you control how securely transfer leaf is held to its backing paper, with adjustable pressure settings for different gilding applications.
Metal Leaf Pressing Options
This pressing service provides a choice of pressure settings to suit different gilding requirements.
Transfer leaf is supplied lightly pressed as standard, allowing the metal to release from the backing paper as soon as it touches the gold size, which makes it well suited to larger areas. Medium and heavy pressing give greater control, as the leaf only releases where pressure is applied, leaving any unused metal for further use.
- Light press is best for larger areas and general gilding
- Medium press offers greater control for decorative work and restoration
- Heavy press is ideal for small lettering, fine detail, and reducing waste
How to Request Metal Leaf Pressing
Our pressing service is available free of charge with metal leaf purchases via our website and in person at our Dalston shop.
Please note, metal leaf can't be returned once it has been either ordered online or pressed at our Dalston shop. Only transfer leaf (as opposed to loose leaf formats) can be pressed.
