Info
Rohrer & Klingner Etching Soft Ground is a traditional wax ground in a stick form designed to be used for soft ground techniques. It can be easily melted onto a warmed metal plate and either lightly rolled or dabbed until it is spread in a thin layer evenly over the plate. Once the plate is cooled completely, a material with structure (such as a leaf) can be pressed into the ground. Alternatively, paper can be placed gently over the plate and drawn into so that the ground adheres to the paper, leaving the metal exposed in soft lines.
Rohrer & Klingner Etching Soft Ground is suitable for soft ground techniques and is soluble in turpentine.
Rohrer & Klingner was established in 1892 by Johann Adolf Rohrer in Leipzig, Germany, and remains one of Europe’s premier ink and tusche producers. The company boasts a fifth generation of lithography specialists and a team that has a passion for manufacturing high specification ink. Following well-established recipes, each bottle of ink is produced by hand, combining naturally binding, renewable materials with the respective colourant.
