For all dry media and multiple washes.

Paper shade: Natural white.
Surface: Vellum.
Sheet count: 62 sheets/124 pages.

With both internal and surface sizing, these papers have exceptional wet strength that supports the application of multiple washes. Similarly, just as the paper's sizing retards water absorption, pigment stays on the surface of the sheet. The result: remarkably glowing colour.
Stillman & Birn bindings are equally rugged. The hardbound bindings - stiff when new - are designed to be broken in. The spines get eased in and then lay completely flat, accomodating both two-page drawing layouts and flatbed scanning.

Bound in the United States, this sketchbook system offers artists a choice of three paper surfaces:

• Vellum – distinctive tooth, suitable for all dry media, and will also accept multiple washes
• Cold Press – Substantial tooth, enhanced wet and tear strength, suitable for multi-media artwork
• Smooth – Suitable for pen & ink, coloured pencils, water-based markers as well as watercolours

I regularly use Stillman & Birn products and find the paper and bindings very durable and strong for watercolour sketches. (Posted on 03/11/2015)

Better than Moleskine watercolour sketchbook. This is a great little sketchbook and fits in my coat pocket nicely. The hardback cover is the best quality of any sketchbook I have seen. The paper is good for pencil, pen or watercolour. I can't see any reason for buying another Moleskine ever again. (Posted on 20/08/2015)
