Staedtler: Trusted Tools for Writing and Drawing Since 1835
Staedtler are one of the world’s most renowned manufacturers of writing and drawing tools. Their origins trace back to 17th-century Nuremberg, Germany.
In 1662, Friedrich Staedtler was recorded as a pencil craftsman who revolutionised pencil making. He did so by combining lead production and wood casing, which were then considered separate trades. His work eventually led to regulatory reform, paving the way for the modern pencil manufacturing process.
The company as we know it today was founded in 1835 by Johann Sebastian Staedtler. By 1866, the company employed over 50 workers and was producing millions of pencils each year. Staedtler has since grown into a global brand, trusted for its exceptional quality and innovation across a wide range of art, writing, and technical tools.
Today, Staedtler’s product range includes many beloved lines, such as:
- Staedtler pencil ranges, such as the classic Mars Lumograph, favoured by students and professionals alike.
- Staedtler Pens such as the Staedtler Pigment Liner, a staple for precise drawing, sketching, and much more.
- FIMO polymer clay, available in a wide range of colours and textures to suit every skill level.
- Beginner and student supplies, studio essentials such as erasers, and much more.
From the classroom to the studio, Staedtler continues to set the standard for writing and drawing tools. New product innovations continue a legacy of German craftsmanship and innovation that spans more than three centuries. Whether you're sketching, colouring, or writing notes, Staedtler remains a trusted companion for creative expression.
