Viarco: Creative Graphite Tools Made in Portugal Since 1907
Viarco is Portugal’s oldest pencil maker. The company was founded in 1907 and are still family-run today. Viarco is based in São João da Madeira and are known for combining tradition with creativity.
Viarco makes more than just pencils. Its ArtGraf range offers unique drawing tools that let artists work in new ways. The ArtGraf Nº 1 is a soft graphite putty. You can shape it to suit your drawing style, making it ideal for expressive mark-making.
Another popular product is the ArtGraf Tailor Shape, inspired by tailor’s chalk. It is water-soluble and allows a wide range of tones. If you add more water, you get gentle, soft washes. With less water, you get bold, opaque colour.
Viarco also creates limited edition and custom pencils for brands, shops, and museums. Many of their tools come in packaging that reflects their rich history and love for design.
Viarco’s products embody quality and exploration. The ArtGraf range gives artists flexible tools to draw, paint, and create in new ways.
